Learning alone is the fastest way to quit.
Almost everyone who drops out of an online course drops out at the same moment: stuck on something, nobody to ask, motivation gone, tab closed. Two weeks later the course is a bookmark you feel guilty about.
The fix isn't better videos. It's having somewhere to say "I don't get this" and getting an answer the same evening.
That's what the Shattak community is.
Where it lives
WhatsApp. One group per course.
We chose it because everyone already has it, nobody needs a new account, and questions get answered in minutes instead of days. A forum nobody opens is worse than a group chat people are already in.
It isn't permanent. As we grow we'll likely move to Telegram, and eventually build community into the platform itself. For now WhatsApp lets us run this properly without infrastructure we can't afford, and our money is better spent on curriculum and mentors.
Getting in
The group isn't separate from the course. It's step two of enrolling.
- Enroll in a course. Free, always.
- You land on the course overview page, which has the invite link to that course's WhatsApp group.
- Join the group. The access key is in the group description.
- Enter that key on the course page to unlock the content.
So by the time you watch your first lesson, you're already in a room with the mentor and everyone else doing the same course. That's deliberate. People who join the group on day one finish at a very different rate from people who never join.
What actually happens in there
Someone posts an error message at 11pm and gets an answer.
A mentor drops a live session link, or the recording afterwards.
Two people find out they're stuck on the same module and work through it together.
Someone shares their assignment before submitting and asks for a tear down.
Job postings, internships, exam notifications, and the occasional useful resource nobody else had found.
Somebody finishes and posts what they built, which is quietly the thing that makes three other people go back and open their course again.
The mentors are in the room
This is the part that makes it work. Mentors aren't a support ticket queue. They're in the group.
They qualify by having done the thing: years of real experience, a serious track record, cleared the exams, built the businesses. They answer questions, run live sessions and Q&A, and take one on one calls when someone needs more than a message thread.
They also help design the courses, which means the person answering your question usually helped decide what you should be learning in the first place.
Ground rules
Short list. We enforce it.
Ask real questions. "Please guide me" isn't a question. What are you trying to do, what did you try, what happened?
Answer when you can. You learned something last week that someone else is stuck on today.
No spam, no referral links, no promoting your course or your channel.
Nothing off topic that derails the group. Good morning forwards, politics, religion, and unsolicited memes belong somewhere else.
Don't message people privately without asking, especially mentors.
Be decent. People here are beginners on purpose. Anyone making someone feel stupid for asking gets removed.
Don't share paid material you don't have the rights to.
Privacy, plainly
WhatsApp groups show your phone number to other members. That's how WhatsApp works and we can't change it.
If you'd rather not share your number, you can use a secondary number, or ask us and we'll work out another way to get you the access key. Just tell us before you join rather than after.
FAQ
Do I have to join the group? The access key lives in the group description, so it's the normal route. If joining a WhatsApp group isn't possible for you, contact us and we'll sort it out.
I left the group and lost the access key. Contact support and we'll send it. You can rejoin the group any time.
The group is too noisy. Mute it and check in once a day. You'll still get the answers. Muting is much better than leaving.
Can I join a group for a course I haven't enrolled in? No. Groups are for people doing the course, which is what keeps them useful.
Is there one general community group? Right now the groups are course by course. As we grow we'll add broader spaces for careers, exams, and general discussion.
Does it cost anything? No. Nothing on Shattak costs anything upfront, including this.
