Careers at Shattak
We're small, we're early, and we're building something that shouldn't need to exist but does.
Shattak is a learning platform where every course is free to enroll in. Students learn first, complete a real outcome, earn a certificate, and pay whatever they think it was worth afterwards. Even ₹0.
That's the whole idea. Removing money from the front of education and putting it at the end, where the person can actually judge what they got.
Building that takes people. Right now we mostly work with freelancers.
How we work
We're at a stage where hiring a full team isn't realistic yet, and honestly we don't think it's necessary. Most of what we need gets done better by people who are good at one specific thing and want to work on it project by project.
So that's how we're set up:
- Freelance and project based. You take on a defined piece of work with a clear scope.
- Remote. Work from wherever you are.
- Ongoing where it fits. If a project works well for both sides, it usually turns into more work.
We're not going to pretend this is a salaried job with a benefits page. It isn't, not yet. It's real work, paid, with a lot of room to shape what gets built.
Who we're looking for
Digital marketers
We need people who can get Shattak in front of students who need it. Content marketing, social, SEO, community, paid campaigns, growth experiments. If you've grown something from close to nothing, that's the experience we care about.
Software developers
The platform is the product. Course pages, progress tracking, assignment submissions, certificates, payments, the mentor system. Frontend, backend, or both. If you like building things people actually use rather than shipping features into a void, this will suit you.
Content creators
Written lessons, course material, scripts, video, design, social content. Our courses are built from carefully written explanations and curated resources, so writing that explains things clearly is worth a lot to us.
Subject matter experts
If you know a subject deeply, whether that's product management, marketing, programming, guitar, or Thermodynamics, you can help us design courses that actually teach it. What students need to learn, in what order, what they should build, and what outcome the course should end in.
If you're more interested in guiding students directly than building courses, look at Become a Mentor instead. That's a different path.
What we care about
- You've done the thing you're claiming to be good at
- You can work without someone checking in on you every day
- You say when something is outside your area
- You'd rather ship something imperfect and fix it than plan for three weeks
How to apply
Write to us at [contact email] with:
- What you do
- Something you've made or worked on that you're proud of
- How you'd want to work with us, and roughly what you charge
No formal cover letter. A few honest paragraphs and a link to your work is better than a template.
We read everything and reply, even when the answer is no.
One last thing
If none of the roles above match you but you think you could help, write anyway. Tell us what you'd do and why it would matter. Early stage means the org chart is mostly empty, and some of the best people we work with came to us with an idea we hadn't thought of.
