Most students don't drop out because a subject was too hard. They drop out because there was nobody to ask at 11pm when the code wouldn't run, when the concept wouldn't click, when they weren't sure if they were even learning the right thing.
That's the gap you fill.
Why mentorship sits at the centre of Shattak
Every course on Shattak is free to enroll in. Students learn first, complete a real outcome, earn a certificate, and pay whatever they want afterwards. Even ₹0.
That model only works if students actually finish. And students finish when someone is there.
A mentor changes the whole feeling of a course. The student stops guessing. They know what to build, what to skip, what actually matters in a real job or a real exam. They know that if they get stuck, help is one message away.
We're not treating mentorship as an add-on feature. It's the part of Shattak we most want to grow.
Who we're looking for
You'd probably be a good fit if any of these sound like you:
- 5+ years of professional experience in your field
- Strong career growth, or experience at a company students would want to work at
- You cracked a competitive exam, a tough interview, or a similar milestone
- You've built something real through freelancing or entrepreneurship
- You know a subject deeply and you're good at explaining it
The years matter less than the proof. If you've done the thing and you can teach someone else to do it, that's what we're after.
Technology, product, marketing, business, design, music, comedy, or academic subjects like Physics, Maths, Chemistry, Engineering, Political Science. All of it is open.
What you can actually do here
You choose what you offer. Nobody is forced into a format.
One on one mentorship Single sessions or ongoing. Career advice, portfolio review, mock interviews, a student who just needs someone to look at their work and be honest.
Live classes and sessions Run a live session for a course community when there's demand for one. Deep dives, walkthroughs, whatever the group is struggling with.
Tuition, on a subscription Regular teaching for students who want structured, recurring help in a subject.
Doubt solving and Q&A Lighter commitment. You're in the community, you answer questions, you keep people moving.
Community guidance Every course has a WhatsApp group. Mentors are the reason those groups are worth being in.

You can build courses too
Our courses are designed with people who've actually done the work, not written by generalists guessing at a syllabus.
There are two ways to do it:
1. Build it with our team. You bring the knowledge. You decide what students need to learn, in what order, what they should build, and what the final outcome should be. Our team handles putting the course together.
2. Build it yourself. If you have the track record and you've worked with us for a while, you get full rights to create and run your own course on the platform.
Either way, the course has to end in something real. A project, a skill, a passed exam, a portfolio piece. Certificates come from outcomes here, not from watching videos.
Earning as a mentor
Straight answer: course enrollments are free and pay what you want, so that isn't where mentor income comes from.
Your earnings come from the services you offer. One on one sessions, live classes, tuition subscriptions, and paid mentorship programmes. You decide what you offer and what your time is worth. What you make depends on that, and on how much demand your community brings you.
We'll go over rates and payouts with you during onboarding, before you commit to anything.
How to get started
1. Register Fill in the mentor form. Takes a few minutes. Tell us your field, your experience, and what you'd like to offer.
2. We review and talk A short verification and a conversation. We want to understand what you're good at and where you'd help students most.
3. Onboarding We set up your mentor profile, pick your subject areas, and decide which services you'll start with.
4. You go live You get connected to the relevant course community and your profile becomes visible to students.
5. Students come to you They reach out through the platform and the community. You take it from there.
Register early. We're onboarding mentors in batches and matching them to courses as those courses go live, so the sooner you're in the system, the sooner we can connect you with students.
What we ask from you
Not much, but it's non negotiable:
- Reply to your students. Even a short reply beats silence.
- Be honest. If a student is going in the wrong direction, tell them.
- Teach what you actually know. Say so when something is outside your area.
- Show up for the sessions you commit to.
Quick questions
Do I have to record video lectures? No. Most of our course content is built from written material and curated resources. Your job is guidance, not production.
How much time does this take? As much as you want to give. Some mentors do a few sessions a month. Others run live classes weekly.
I have less than 5 years of experience. Should I still apply? Yes, if you've done something worth teaching. Apply and tell us what it is.
Where does the mentoring happen? WhatsApp communities for now, plus sessions and calls. We'll move to a proper in platform community as we grow.
Can I mentor and also study on Shattak? Of course.
